The CNX Midcap rose 44 points to 8654. About 595 shares advanced while 187 shares declined on NSE. Among the frontliners, Bharti Airtel, Cairn, Axis Bank, PNB, ICICI Bank and SBI (up 2% post strong set of numbers) were gainers in early trade. Sterlite Industries (down 3%), Reliance Communications, Tata Power, Tata Motors (profit booking), Ranbaxy Labs, Suzlon Energy (ahead of numbers) and Hindalco were under pressure.
